Biography Catherine Graindorge
Catherine Graindorge
is a Belgian violinist, violist and composer. Produced by John Parish (PJ Harvey, Rokia Traoré), Eldorado is her second solo album and her first for Glitterbeat's tak:til imprint. Gorgeous and haunting, Graindorge uses strings, harmonium and electronic treatments to explore intimate corners and widescreen vistas.
Eldorado. People believed it was the city of gold. A fable, a legend that pushed the conquistadors further and further across a continent in search of riches. A myth. A grail. Eldorado was all of those things and more. Over the centuries it’s become a word weighted down by so many meanings, layer upon layer of possibility and expectation. But it can also be a place to find hope and solace and discover dreams. That’s the music of this Eldorado, the second solo album from Belgian violinist and composer Catherine Graindorge.
Although she’s best-known for her collaborations - with a range of artists from Nick Cave to Mark Lanegan, as well as her work as part of Nile on waX, and for the music she’s written

And on 26 April 2024 she released her newest album Songs for the Dead, also on Gliiterbeat. This album is a special project: apart from her longtime accompanist Simon Ho, Catherine Graindorge collaborates on this album with Simon Huw Jones (And Also The Trees) and Pascal Humbert (16 Horsepower).
Catherine’s music is a kind of psychedelic soundtrack: an immersive, intense and drone-like
soundscape charged with underlying tension that needs to explode, just like a volcano on the brink of
eruption.
Apart from her project Songs for the Dead, that she performs live with a quartet, Catherine Graindorge performs as a solo artist or as a duo with Simon Ho. In these solo and duo shows she not only plays material from her earlier records like Eldorado and The Dictator, but also from he

In October 2021, she released a new solo album « Eldorado » recorded with the legendary John Parish on the Tak:Til label (Glitterbeat Records). In September 2022, she released a 4-track EP, « The Dictator », with the iconic Iggy Pop (Glitterbeat).
