While many who have seen her perform mention her beauty, natural ability, and star quality, Gabrielle Union did not set out to be an actress. After an internship in the office of a modeling agency during her college years, Union was invited to get in front of the camera. She gave it a try, and the modeling soon led to small roles in television shows. Those in turn led to small roles in feature films, and by 2000, just a few years after her first television appearances, Union had won a major role in the popular movie Bring It On, starring Kirsten Dunst (1982–). Since then she has been offered significant parts in a steady stream of films, including Two Can Play That Game (2001), Deliver Us from Eva (2003), and Breakin'All the Rules (2004). One of today’s hottest stars, Gabrielle Union, continues to shine.  

Union recently starred in James McTeigue’s box office hit Breaking In, which was released on May 11th by Universal Pictures. The movie was available in just over 2,500 theaters and made over $17 million during its opening weekend alone. In addition to starring in the film, Union also served as an executive producer. It is for her work as a producer on the film that she was honored at the 2018 CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards with the Award for “Breakthrough Producer of the Year.”

Up next, Union will begin production on Charter Communications’ drama series “LA’s Finest” in which she will reprise her role of Syd Burnett from Bad Boys 2. Charter Communications gave a 13-episode series order to the show in which Union will executive produce and star opposite Jessica Alba. The show is set to premiere in 2019 exclusively on Charter’s Spectrum as the platform’s first major original series.

Her career began in the 1990s, when she made dozens of appearances on television sitcoms, prior to landing supporting roles in 1999 teen films She's All That and 10 Things I Hate About You. She rose to greater prominence the following year, after she landed her breakthrough role in the teen film Bring It On.

Union is known for her performances in the romantic comedy films The Brothers (2001), Deliver Us from Eva (2003), Daddy's Little Girls (2007), Think Like a Man (2012) and Think Like a Man Too (2014). She also had starring roles in the CBS medical drama series City of Angels (2000) and in the films Bad Boys II (2003), Cradle 2 the Grave (2003), Neo Ned (2005), Cadillac Records (2008), Top Five (2014), Breaking In (2018), and The Perfect Find (2023). She has also co-starred in the films The Birth of a Nation (2016), Almost Christmas (2016) and Sleepless (2017).
