Neil Olshey (born January 10, 1965) is an American basketball executive who most recently served as the general manager of the Portland Trail Blazers.
Olshey came to Portland from the Los Angeles Clippers, where he served as the team's Vice President of Basketball Operations for two seasons.

Neil Olshey Biography

Neil Olshey is the former President of Basketball Operations for the Portland Trail Blazers. He is best known for drafting franchise cornerstones Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum in back-to-back years. The acquisition of both players led to four straight postseason appearances for Portland from 2014-17. Olshey previously worked for the Los Angeles Clippers, rising to the position of Vice President of Basketball Operations. Olshey was instrumental in bringing star point guard to the Clippers via trade. He won "Best Sports Transaction of the Year" for the move at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference. Olshey originally began his NBA career as the team's Director of Player Development. He had been the Director of Player Development at SFX Sports Group.

Blazers name Neil Olshey GM

The Clippers had announced on Friday that the team had reached an agreement in principle to a new agreement with Olshey, who had been working without a contract since October 2011. A media conference call had initially been scheduled for Monday afternoon by the Clippers, but final negotiations stalled as the Trail Blazers stepped in to secure Olshey's services, according to sources.

"Circumstances have obviously undergone some movement since our announcement Friday. In light of that, we want to wish Neil well and acknowledge his contributions during the time he spent with the Clippers," said Clippers' president Andy Roeser.

Olshey had previously interviewed for the position in Portland last September during the work stoppage.
