Biografia
[modifica | modifica wikitesto]Nato a Kulmbach nel 1891, Konrad entrò il 10 luglio 1910 come candidato ufficiale del 1º reggimento d'artiglieria "principe reggente Luitpold" dell'esercito bavarese e prese poi parte al primo conflitto mondiale col grado di ufficiale. Il 18 giugno 1917 venne ferito sul campo di battaglia.
Nel periodo tra le due guerre continuò ininterrottamente a prestare servizio nell'esercito tedesco dapprima all'interno della 7ª divisione dell'esercito bavarese e poi presso il Ministero della Difesa a Berlino. Dopo l'istituzione della Wehrmacht nel 1935 venne promosso al ragno di colonnello e gli venne affidato il comando del 100º reggimento. L'anno successivo venne trasferito come primo ufficiale di stato maggiore al 2º gruppo di comando a Kassel.
