Drashti-Vivian were not stars before Madhubala: Saurabh

It came as a shocker to us when Saurabh Tiwari (Nautank Telefilms) gave a statement on the leads (Drashti Dhami and Vivian Dsena) of his very own show, Madhubala-Ek Ishq Ek Junoon.
What was that? Well let us give a small brief. Saurabh Tiwari’s another show Do Dil Ek Jaanwill soon go on air. However the makers have introduced two new faces as the leads in the show. On being asked why opting for new faces for 'Jaan' where in the other hand he has roped in two small screen’s big name Drashti and Vivian for Madhubala? The producer instantly responded, “Well, Drashti and Vivain were not stars before Madhubala.They were as equal as a new comer for Madhubala. I think the shows which they did initially were not to that level. All in all I would say Madhubalais their career’s big project.”

Long working hours and working without any breaks – that’s the price actors of daily soaps on Indian television pay for their fame. Vivian DSena’s ouster from Madhubala...Ek Ishq Ek Junoon for taking too many offs reinforces the industry’s working style. The tussle between actors and producers over leaves is an ongoing one, and while a few actors make sure that their contracts have the clause for a weekly off, others don’t enjoy the privilege.
No provision for leaves, we are not a corporate “We have 5 days telecast per week, that means 22 episodes a month. That leaves actors with little scope to take weekly offs,” says producer Yash Patnaik, who is presently producing shows like Junoon and Veer Ki Ardaas Veera. He adds, “Most shows today are dependent only on the leads and eventually, the main lead is required to work everyday in a month. Saurabh Tewari (born on 18 November, 1976) is an Indian content producer, writer and director known primarily for his work in Hindi television and OTT industry. Throughout the span of his career, he has earned numerous accolades, including The Indian Television Academy award, the Colors Golden Petal Award, and the People's Choice Award. He started off his career working within channels like Zee TV, Imagine, and Colors, also being part of the launching team of the latter. Working his way upwards, he earned the position of senior vice president of programming and the head of content in Colors and Imagine. However, he then moved on to establishing his own production house. Starting off with popular romantic show Madhubala: Ek Ishq Ek Junoon followed by many other commercially and critically acclaimed shows like Rangrasiya, Zindagi ki Mehak Sab Satrangi and Sherdil Shergill.
