Dr. Muhammad Ali
Dr Ali joined Trinity College Dublin in Jan 2022 as an Assistant Professor. He, an environmental engineer by profession, holds an MS degree in Environmental Engineering from National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Pakistan. Furthermore, he earned a PhD in Environmental Engineering from Hokkaido University, Japan. With experience in both industry and academia, Dr Ali has made significant contributions to his field. In addition to his academic pursuits, he also co-founded a start-up company based at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia. His research primarily revolves around understanding microbial interactions within natural and engineered ecosystems. His aim is to deepen our understanding of these interactions and explore their broader implications. Moreover, his expertise lies in developing innovative environmental biotechnologies that effectively tackle and mitigate environmental pollution. Anar Ali was born in Tanzania, grew up in Alberta, and now lives in Toronto. She is an M.F.A. graduate from the Creative Writing Program at the University of British Columbia. The title story from her first book, Baby Khaki’s Wings, was one of the stories shortlisted for the Journey Prize and published inĀ The Journey Prize Stories 16 in 2004. Ali is also a screenwriter/filmmaker.

Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq[a] (12 August 1924 – 17 August 1988) was a Pakistani military officer who served as the 6thpresident of Pakistan from 1978 until his death in 1988. He rose to prominence after leading a coup on 5 July 1977, which overthrew the democratically elected government of prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Zia subsequently imposed martial law, suspended the constitution, and served as chief martial law administrator before assuming the presidency. Zia served as the 2nd chief of the Army Staff from 1976 to 1988, a position he later leveraged to execute a coup in 1977,[3] which was the second coup in Pakistan's history of coups; the first occurred in 1958 under Ayub Khan.[4] Zia was born in Jalandhar and trained at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun.
