Kevin Madden '90 Plays Important Role in Romney Campaign

Iona Prep alumnus Kevin Madden '90 serves as an adviser to presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

Iona Prep alumnus Kevin Madden '90 currently serves as an adviser to presidential nominee Mitt Romney. Kevin, who served as Romney's 2008 spokesman, has remained with the campaign as an outside adviser, but has begun to play a more visible role as a campaign voice as the election nears. He was also a veteran of George W. Bush's 2004 effort.

 

Kevin is Executive Vice President of Public Affairs of JDA Frontline, a public affairs firm in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining JDA Frontline, he was a Managing Director with The Glover Park Group, a leading public affairs firm based in Washington D.C.

Kevin Madden is a nationally recognized communications strategist, having served as a senior counselor to some of the nation’s top leaders in both the public and private sectors over the last 15 years.

Kevin served as a senior advisor to and spokesman for Governor Mitt Romney’s 2012 and 2008 presidential campaigns. Prior to joining Governor Romney’s campaign, Mr. Madden served as Press Secretary to then-House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH). Before his work as a top leadership aide on Capitol Hill, Mr. Madden served as the Department of Justice’s national spokesman on issues ranging from national security to litigation before the federal courts.

During the 2004 presidential campaign cycle, Mr. Madden served as a Bush-Cheney campaign spokesman for regional, national and international news organizations.

Kevin serves on the advisory board of Georgetown University’s Institute for Politics and Public Service and on the Board of Directors for the Bipartisan Policy Center Advocacy Network.

Kevin Madden (born March 2, 1972)[note 1] is an American pundit or public relations professional in newspapers and magazines and appears regularly on television news and talk shows, largely on cable news programming in the United States. He was a senior advisor to and spokesman for Mitt Romney's 2012 U.S. presidential campaign.

Professional history

After graduating from college in 1994, Madden went to work for the Yonkers City Council, working for Councilman Carlo DiNota. He soon became the spokesman for family friend John Spencer's successful 1996 Yonkers mayoral campaign.[1] After helping Spencer win re-election, Madden moved to Washington, D.C. and, beginning in 2001, became senior policy advisor and chief spokesman for CongressmanJohn E. Sweeney.[2]
